James is British, so he’s one of those weirdo’s who thinks Land Rovers are quality vehicles 😉
A passionate cinematographer / lighting cameraman and drone pilot, James’ roots are in documentary television shooting for the BBC and BT Sport, and more recently independent feature length documentaries.
A keen surfer and fisherman, James’ love of the ocean lead to him producing, directing and shooting acclaimed international doco “A Plastic Wave”. The film follows characters from Cornwall to Mumbai and raises awareness about our plastic pollution crisis. It’s had nearly 500,000 views on Youtube.
Since moving to New Zealand, James has shot documentaries, TV commercials and branded content for the likes of The Outdoor Channel, Adidas, Salomon, BNZ, Villa Maria wines, NZ On Air and more. James loves working in the epic landscapes of the South Island ( and the North Island! ) and is always keen for a roadie in his trusty Land Rover.
“Film making is constant problem solving really. I get a buzz crafting a shot under pressure with whatever light, equipment and time is available. On factual programmes, I love watching stories and characters develop. Reality can often be much stranger than fiction!”
